Beginning Wheel Class: $285 + $15 material / firing fee for 8 weeks or $160 + $10 fee for 4 weeks
Learn basic wheel throwing techniques to make your own functional pottery. Make, trim and glaze your work. No experience needed. All supplies and firing included.
Two different lengths of classes. Four week class provides a short and sweet insight into pottery making - we will concentrate on making, trimming and glazing bowls. Good class to take if time is an issue. Eight week class provides more detailed learning of making bowls, as well as making mugs and handles. This course will introduce various approaches to glazing and decorating with englobes.
Intermediate Wheel Class: $285 8 weeks (unless stated otherwise)
Students with experience in throwing will learn advanced shaping techniques to make larger and more complex forms, such as vases, bottles, plates, covered containers, and teapots. This course will also explore methods for altering thrown pots and explain different glazing techniques, such as glaze layering and using oxides. Students pay $1 per pound for glaze firing and buy their own clay.
Hand-Building / Surface Decorating Class $170 4 weeks
Students will learn main hand-building techniques, such as pinching, coiling, and using slabs. Those with previous hand-building experience are also welcome to participate in this class. Class teaches advanced decorating methods (inlays, slip trailing, underglaze transfers, etc.) . We will make platters, soap dishes, serving trays and decorate them in a variety of ways. Great for those who want to take their skills to a whole new level. Students pay $1 per pound for glaze firing and buy their own clay. Unlimited practice time! |
